PSV Master Technician – Dartford Depot Salary: £63,449.14 per annum Shift Pattern: Sunday to Thursday – Full-time, Permanent (5 days/week) At Arriva UK Bus, we connect people and communities across the country, operating services from London to Liverpool, Birmingham to Bradford, and many more towns and cities in between. As a Master Technician, you’ll serve as the technical focal point within the depot – providing in-depth diagnostics, leading fault resolution, and supporting both the Engineering Manager and on-site engineers. You will specialise in resolving complex mechanical and electrical issues, particularly in engine systems, gearboxes, axles, CAN lines, Euro 5/6 emissions systems, and hybrid/high-voltage vehicle technologies. Key Responsibilities: Lead the depot’s complex diagnostics and repairs across mechanical and electrical systems Act as the go-to expert for OBD diagnostics and advanced fault finding Carry out and guide repairs on engines, axles, gearboxes, emissions systems, electrical faults and hybrid components Support, mentor, and develop engineers and apprentices in diagnostic techniques Liaise directly with the Engineering Manager and Technical Manager on high-level technical matters Lead technical campaigns, fleet checks, and engineering trials Develop and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, suppliers, and manufacturers What We’re Looking For: NVQ Level 3 in relevant motor vehicle or engineering discipline Strong experience with diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins Insite, Volvo Tech Tool, ACTIA, WABCO, Xentry) Excellent understanding of electrical systems (including alternators, wiring harnesses, control units) Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) Flexible, solutions-focused approach with the ability to adapt to evolving priorities Valid UK driving licence (max 6 points) Willingness to undergo and pass a PCV medical Familiarity with DVSA/Operating Licence requirements What You’ll Get in Return: Competitive salary of £63,449.14 per year Sunday to Thursday shift pattern for a better work-life balance 38-hour working week Extensive training & development, including: High Voltage Levels 1–4 EV training & diagnostics IRTEC accreditation Roadside assistance training Free bus travel for you and a nominated family member Pension scheme, full PPE and uniform provided Generous holiday entitlement – 20 days bank holidays (rising to 25 days after 5 years) Access to the Arriva Village – discounts and savings of up to £1,200 per year Wellbeing support and career progression opportunities
