The Surgical Assessment Unit is based on Gate 36 at Pinderfields. We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, and dynamic person to join our ward clerk team on a 30-hour per week vacancy. The role involves working both long days and night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays. The Surgical Assessment Unit provides a 24-hour service to surgical patients and includes an Advanced Clinical Practitioner Same Day Emergency Care Team. The unit comprises assessment beds and same-day emergency care for various surgical specialties. It handles a high volume of complex cases from different admission routes into our bed base, admitting all surgical specialties for the trust. The successful candidate will be welcomed into a supportive, friendly team and provided with a positive work environment.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be a great team player. They will provide administrative support on the Surgical Assessment Unit, including answering phones, greeting patients, relatives, and visitors. They will be proficient in using all of the trust's digital systems (training provided). The role involves a 24-hour rotation of long days and nights, including weekends and bank holidays.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for storing data within the department following standard operating procedures, handling designated clerical duties, providing general administration support, promoting effective communication within the department and trust, managing telephone communications, confidentially handling patient and staff records, timely storage of reports and correspondence, reporting maintenance issues, managing faxes, tracking and booking patient records using the Trust’s IT systems, receiving and distributing goods and post, and attending departmental meetings.
