Benefits Officer 3 months initially, likely to be extendedHome working – Just the initial few days in the officeNegotiable ratesOur client is looking for 2 Benefits Officers on an initial 3-month contract to provide a first class service to the public in the granting of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support.As the successful candidate you will be responsible for processing claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support both accurately and quickly so that agreed targets are met. You will mainly be processing UCDS files, but you will also need to be able to process all CTS work. You will also be responsible for the below:
1. Maintain an up to date knowledge of procedures, regulations and systems and provide an awareness of other welfare benefits where appropriate.
2. Consider and make rmendations on backdating benefit claims.
3. Maintain a high level of customer care in all operations.
4. Assist in supporting other staff when required.
5. Deputise for the Benefits Team Leader in their absence.
The successful candidates will need:
6. Knowledge of benefits legislation and the ability to interpret andmunicate it to customers
7. Ability and proficiency in Academy system
8. Ability to solve problems and make decisions
9. Ability to demonstrate good numeric skills
10. Understanding of the need to respect confidentiality
11. Knowledge of e-capabilities for Benefits services
12. Ability to work quickly and accurately, paying attention to details
13. Ability to deliver to agreed deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
14. Experience of working in a customer-facing role
15. Experience of working within a benefits environment and knowledge / awareness of Housing Benefit legislation (at least 2 years’ experience of processing benefit claims).
