Health & Safety Officer M/F/D
Position Context:
The position supports the EH&S Department in ensuring the organisations compliance with legislation and regulatory guidance, and relevant industry good practice, and to drive continuous improvement in terms of risk reduction.
Main tasks :
Undertake / advise on risk assessments to identify hazards and appropriate control measures, and identify and implement risk reduction opportunities
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant legislation and guidance and provide support / advice as necessary to other functions in terms of interpretation and application (including, but not limited to, areas such as safe systems of work, risk assessment, incident investigation and proactive learning, emergency preparedness, and audit & inspection)
Conduct / participate in routine inspections & audits in support of our EH&S Management System to confirm ongoing compliance with our policies and procedures, and identify improvement opportunities
Write, implement and review policies, procedures and working practices as appropriate in support of the EH&S Management System
Deliver in-house training to all levels in the company on key EH&S hazards, risks and controls
Contributing to and leading Incident investigations, preparing RCI Apollo charts and supporting the development of others in incident investigations
Conducting Audits and Inspections in scope of expertise
Take on EH&S support role in the Emergency Control Centre
Participate in Customer audit visits
Initiate & Review Management of Change
Attend relevant outside functional EHS groups and teams as required.
Participate and lead (as required) Seqens EHS committee subgroups and use this role to influence and develop good EHS standards within the business
Required skills :
Required:
- National Examination Board for Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Credible and confident communication skills
- Experience in delivering training
- Good organisational and planning skills
- Ability to work on multiple tasks at one time
- Ability to work to deadlines with minimal supervision
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
Desired:
- Environmental legislation knowledge / experience
- Previous experience in the Chemical Industry
- Excellent I.T. skills
