Rev & Regs are recruiting on behalf of an established insurance company located in Croydon for a Senior Legal Claims Handler (18 month FTC).
The role sits within a specialist Civil Litigation team and involves independently managing complex legal expenses claims from notification through to settlement, making coverage decisions, negotiating costs with solicitors, and supporting junior team members. This opportunity suits an experienced claims professional with Legal Expenses and civil litigation exposure who is comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities:
* Independently manage and settle complex Legal Expenses (BTE) claims from notification through to conclusion
* Make autonomous coverage and indemnity decisions in line with policy terms and conditions
* Assess claim validity and maintain ongoing reviews throughout the lifecycle of the claim
* Negotiate costs, funding and strategy with solicitors and other legal professionals
* Liaise regularly with solicitors, barristers, brokers and policyholders
* Provide guidance and support to junior Claims Handlers on complex matters
* Contribute to team objectives and assist with ad hoc projects as required
Key experience & skills required:
* Previous claims handling or insurance experience, ideally within Legal Expenses Insurance (BTE)
* Exposure to or experience handling civil litigation matters
* Legal training preferred (law degree advantageous)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret legal documentation
* Analytical, inquisitive mindset with confidence to challenge and reason with legal professionals
* Good understanding of the legal industry and costs negotiation
Salary: Up to £36,000 plus bonus
Location: Hybrid (3-4 days per week in Croydon office)
