Salary: £30,000 per annum.
Hours: Full time - 37 hours per week.
Schedule: Monday to Friday (occasional weekends). This is a daytime role designed to support work–life balance.
Are you an experienced chef ready to take the lead in a meaningful, people-focused environment? You will lead daily kitchen operations, mentor staff, and ensure a first-class dining experience for our residents as part of the Independent Living team.
This role offers a fulfilling culinary career with a consistent daytime schedule, with flexibility to support weekend cover when needed.
What Youll Be Doing
* Lead the kitchen team to deliver nutritious, seasonal meals that meet a variety of dietary needs
* Create menus reflecting resident preferences, cultural diversity, and special dietary requirements
* Manage food budgets, stock levels, and supplier relationships
* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations (including HACCP and COSHH)
* Maintain due diligence practices to uphold a 5-star EHO rating
* Support and develop kitchen staff to maintain a high standard of service
* Monitor kitchen equipment and cleanliness to ensure safe, efficient operations
What You Bring
* A passion for food and a commitment to excellence
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to organise, delegate, and lead from the front
* Solid understanding of food allergens and how to manage them safely
* Experience in catering, ideally in a care, community, or Independent Living setting
* A proactive, hands-on approach with great attention to detail
* A Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) desirable
* Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Strong understanding of kitchen due diligence and food safety practices
