About the Role As an Autism Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils’ learning, communication, and emotional development. The role involves providing 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils to overcome barriers and build confidence in a calm, consistent way. You’ll be part of a caring team that values patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to see every child succeed. Responsibilities Provide individualised support to pupils with Autism in the classroom and during structured activities. Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation through clear boundaries and supportive communication. Implement personalised learning strategies under the guidance of teaching and therapy staff. Support with social skills development and sensory regulation throughout the school day. Assist with personal care where necessary, maintaining dignity and respect at all times. Collaborate with the wider school team to promote pupil independence and engagement. Qualifications Previous experience working with children or young people with Autism or additional learning needs (preferred). Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a calm and nurturing approach. Ability to build trust and encourage positive relationships with pupils. Understanding of SEN strategies, including visual supports and sensory tools, is beneficial. Must have the right to work in the UK and hold an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
