Assistant Estimator
An Assistant Estimator role supporting the preparation of accurate cost plans and competitive tenders for construction projects. Based in Reading, this position suits someone early in their estimating career who is confident analysing drawings, gathering subcontractor prices, and assisting senior team members in producing high‑quality bid submissions.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing cost plans, bills of quantities, and tender documentation.
Review drawings, specifications, and project information to support accurate pricing.
Send out subcontractor enquiries, chase returns, and help evaluate quotations.
Maintain tender files, rate libraries, and project cost data.
Support senior estimators with take‑offs, measurement, and value‑engineering exercises.
Contribute to tender presentations and internal handover processes.
Candidate Profile
Some experience in estimating, quantity surveying, or a related pre‑construction role.
Comfortable reading drawings and working with technical documentation.
Strong numerical skills with good attention to detail.
Organised, proactive, and able to work to deadlines.
Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships with subcontractors and internal teams
