Consultant in Psychiatry

This is an exciting new full-time post and is ideal for applicants with a CCT in psychiatry who have an interest in formulation, holistic care and teamworking and bridging the complexity of physical and mental health when patients are psychiatrically acutely unwell and require specialist services.
You’ll join an established team of existing Consultants who provide Rehabilitation Medicine, Elderly Care and Liaison Psychiatry and will enhance the development of the brain injury services as part of the South of England Rehabilitation Centre (SERC) development at the Western Community Hospital. SERC is scheduled to open in Autumn 2024 and will comprise two general rehabilitation wards which are being relocated to join our current specialist in-patient rehabilitation provision of Kite Unit which is a purpose-built neuropsychiatric unit for managing patients with brain injury, and Snowdon Ward which provides physical and cognitive neurological rehabilitation.
You’ll be the clinical lead on the Kite Unit and work alongside a Specialty doctor in Rehabilitation Medicine providing joined-up care encompassing both physical and mental health. Furthermore, the postholder will be supported to be responsible and lead on the continued development of this regional neuropsychiatry inpatient service, exploring opportunities for growing the service and gaining RCPsych Neuropsychiatry Quality Network accreditation.
