We are offering an exciting developmental opportunity from Band 7 to Band 8 (pending accreditation) for a clinical psychologist, family therapist, or Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team in Thanet CYPMHS. The service provides evidence-based, NICE-compliant psychological interventions to children, young people, and their families experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties, guided by the principles of the CYP-IAPT programme.
Main duties of the job
* Measure clinical outcomes and deliver evidence-based interventions within CYPMHS.
* Promote mental and emotional health in the community through clinical interventions.
* Conduct initial assessments in schools and community settings and deliver early interventions.
* Develop care plans tailored to complex needs.
* Provide clinical leadership and supervision within your professional expertise to junior clinicians.
About us

Job responsibilities
Our CYPMHS serves children and young people aged 0-18 in Kent, including those up to 25 with special educational needs. We operate a care pathways approach across various localities, focusing on early intervention and integrated services, including digital channels like Big White Wall.
Structure of CYPMHS
The service includes a Single Point of Access, Neurodevelopmental & Learning Disabilities Service, Locality Teams, a crisis team, and inpatient services across Medway, Dartford, Maidstone, and other areas.
Referral criteria
* Mood and anxiety disorders
* Behavioral and conduct disorders
* Emerging personality and attachment disorders
* Psychotic disorders
* Self-harm and suicidal ideation
* Substance misuse with mental health needs
* Autistic spectrum disorder with co-occurring issues
* ADHD with co-occurring issues
* Bereavement problems
Referrals are assessed via a care pathways model aligned with NICE guidelines.
Working in our locality teams
We aim to respond early to children's needs, preventing escalation to more intensive services. Our approach includes digital tools and community-based support, with clinical leads managing care pathways.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Knowledge
* Postgraduate training in psychological practice (psychologist, family therapist, or child and adolescent psychotherapist).
Job Role
* Full-time position.
* Ability to lead multidisciplinary team meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
* Eligibility for registration with relevant professional bodies (e.g., HCPC, BABCP, UKCP, AFT, ACP).
* Extensive experience working with challenging children/young people requiring complex interventions.
* Experience working therapeutically with families of children and young people with mental health issues.
Other Requirements
This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check due to the nature of the work.
