Position Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Microbiology team as a HCPC registered Band 5 Biomedical Scientist at Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services (CWPS) based at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW).
The Microbiology department performs testing, reporting and clinical advice services for all hospitals and the surrounding GP practices. The department is currently out to tender for full laboratory automation and a significant upgrade in equipment, offering the successful applicant the opportunity to be involved in the implementation of these changes into routine diagnostic service.
Responsibilities
* Perform a range of microbiological techniques to assist in the clinical diagnosis of microbiological disease.
* Rotate through all sections of Microbiology.
* Participate in shift rotas including working weekends, bank holidays and the on‑call rota once suitably trained.
* Assist in the planning and implementation of the new laboratory automation and equipment upgrade.
* Contribute to the transformation of the service and bring forward ideas for improvement.
Qualifications
* Completed registration portfolio in Microbiology and HCPC registered.
* UK microbiology NHS laboratory experience.
* Experience working in a microbiology department that serves multiple hospital sites and GP practices.
* Ability to work shift rotas, weekends, bank holidays and on‑call duties.
