About the role

We are seeking a Senior Housekeeper to assist in the smooth day to day operation of the Chambers ensuring we provide a professional, friendly and efficient reception service for all guests visiting the Jockey Club Rooms Chambers dealing with enquires and requests whilst they are with us.


About The Jockey Club Rooms

The Jockey Club Rooms are the private members club of The Jockey Club. It has 22 bedrooms, beautiful public spaces and function rooms and is set in stunning grounds. It highlights the wonderful history of British Horse Racing and supports the work of The Jockey Club that stages thrilling sporting occasions and live events nationwide including The Grand National, The Cheltenham Festival & The Derby. Owning & operating 15 course’s, millions of people every year enjoy the special experiences we offer through racing, music, food and entertainment on raceday’s and beyond.


The Senior Housekeeper will

* Ensure the day-to-day cleaning of the bedrooms is carried out to the high standard required, working with the team to ensure rooms are ready in a timely way.
* Assist in managing the team effectively and in a professional manner in line with all human resource legislation.
* Be able to plan and prioritise team tasks daily, ensuring that the member/guest comes first.
* Answer incoming calls politely, assisting or transferring them where appropriate with accurate information.
* Support management with the day-to-day operations of the Chambers assisting in dealing with all online and direct reservations, ensuring that there is no over bookings and information on these bookings is kept up to date.
* Support and assist in motivating the housekeeping / night management team maintaining our high standards of excellence.
* Check in/Check out of guests, and completion of accounts payable on departure as required
* Interact with the members/guests in a polite, professional and positive way and pass on any feedback onto the Reception & Housekeeping Supervisor
* Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with the team members and ensures they do the same with others
* Provide turndown service, shoe cleaning, wake up calls, newspaper ordering and delivery, morning teas and continental breakfast service in rooms as required
* Maintain stock levels of cleaning materials, linen and supplies, putting together orders and assisting the Reception & Housekeeping Supervisor to make orders, following the correct ordering procedure raise PO numbers.
* Report any issues about servicing, maintenance, faulty plant and equipment servicing and decorative repairs or remedial works.
* Assist with the creation of weekly rotas’ and keep records of hours worked, ensuring that the works worked are in line with the business needs and that hours are being used most affectively.
* Adhere to company health and safety protocol, and follow the procedures within the Chambers

* Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Initiative-driven with strong follow-through and problem-solving skills.
* Respectful of confidentiality and accurate in record-keeping.
* Positive, “can-do” attitude with willingness to undertake training and cross-department flexibility
* Able to deal with and communicate with people at all levels in line with all legislation
