Our client are manufacturing company based in Telford. They are currently recruiting for an Automation Specialist on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Preventative Maintenance Team Leader, the Automation Specialist will develop, implement, and maintain automated systems and processes, focusing on improving efficiency and reducing downtime in the factory. You will support production engineering activities, as required. Main responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to): * Investigate and repair equipment failures where an advanced level of electrical knowledge is required; * Ensure modifications to plant and equipment meet engineering standards and legislative requirements; * Help to train and develop the engineering team in electrical disciplines; * Where necessary, source parts or vital equipment to keep the factory operational; * Complete electrical overhauls or upgrades to equipment; * Modernise PLC platforms and integrated control systems; * Integrate technology within new and existing systems; * Create electrical drawings/schematics; * Give technical support across the engineering team; * Co-ordinate and manage contractors on site where they will be assisting with your works; * From time-to-time, provide cover for shift engineers on 3 on; 3 off rotation. The ideal candidate will: * Hold an NVQ level 3 Engineering Maintenance Diploma (Electrical or Mechanical Pathway) or equivalent qualification; * Have existing experience of PLC systems with the ability to read, interpret and write PLC code in various languages; * Have demonstrable competence using Microsoft Office, in particular Outlook, Excel and Word; * Experience using an ERP system would be desirable for this role. Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm Annual leave: 33 days a year including bank holidays
