This often involves the manipulation and processing of large datasets. This role will provide data-orientated technical expertise to a busy operational department. Repetitive processes will be automated to ensure the handling of large datasets is streamlined allowing the department to focus on quality rather than process. These efficiencies will also allow the department to scale to meet future demand. The successful candidate will possess an inquisitive mind and experience in dealing with data. Adept at learning new skills and possess good judgment to know when to automate and when to “get the job done”. To further support the systemisation of processes this role will be based within the operational department on a day to day basis. Beyond this there will be opportunities to get involved in project work and build on specialist technical skills (data/development). Consistently improve and innovate the Data Service Develop a strong understanding of high-level systems and demonstrate expertise in key business-as-usual technical tasks. Manipulate large datasets: cleanse, transform, and load data into compliance systems. Use tools such as SQL Server, Excel, and other appropriate technologies to automate repetitive processes and manage bulk data operations. Build a comprehensive understanding of the reporting requirements for each compliance scheme. Identify and implement automation opportunities to enhance efficiency. Ensure standards are maintained and that solutions robustly tested Ensure all business-as-usual tasks are completed on time and to the required standard. Deliver IT project work to the standard expected by the Head of IT. Provide timely ad hoc reporting as needed. Coordinate and conduct testing to ensure new systems and processes are robust and fit for purpose. Maintain high standards and ensure all solutions are thoroughly tested. What we need from you Naturally inquisitive, analytical, and passionate about learning and technology. Experienced in data manipulation using SQL, with the ability to write complex queries involving temporary tables, joins, and advanced SQL syntax. Comfortable with first-line support, able to liaise with internal users and identify system issues or bugs. Adept in Microsoft Excel and capable of handling large datasets efficiently. Desirable Attributes Professional, approachable, and pragmatic with a balanced approach to problem-solving. Able to balance best practices with practical delivery. A strong team player, ideally with experience acting as a technical escalation point. Skilled in workload prioritisation and identifying blockers quickly. Able to estimate effort, report progress, and meet tight deadlines. Confident in communicating complex information to a range of stakeholders. Quick to learn and retain technical and regulatory information. Experience or a strong interest in learning C#.
