Role Title and Details
* Role: Graduate Ecologist
* Start Date: Summer 2026
* Location: Midlands, Birmingham or Leicester
Responsibilities
* Support and assist our ecologists on habitat and protected species surveys (including bats, reptiles, amphibians, otters, barn owls), desktop studies, data analysis, and report writing.
* Develop field craft and consultancy skills as part of a professional ecology team.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the wider business on multi-disciplinary projects; engage with planning, archaeology, landscape, and engineering teams as needed.
* Contribute to fee proposals and participate in training for career progression and professional development.
Qualifications/Skills
* Minimum 2:1 Degree or equivalent in ecology, conservation, or a related discipline.
* Student or qualifying member of CIEEM (or working towards this).
* Understanding of ecological survey principles and mitigation work.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Willingness to work flexible, unsocial hours and to travel for work.
* Valid UK driving licence and ideally access to a vehicle.
* Able to obtain SC clearance and DBS check.
About The Ecology Team
Over 90 permanent ecologists across 14 offices, with a focus on flexible, talent-led work. We support training and mentoring, internal and external development, and opportunities to achieve Chartered Ecologist status through CIEEM. We collaborate with Planners, Archaeologists, Landscape Architects, Masterplanners, and Engineers to deliver multi-disciplinary projects.
