Associate – Commercial Law | Manchester (Hybrid, 3–4 days in office) | Full-time | £50,000 – £65,000 (DOE)
We’re working with a respected and fast-growing law firm to help appoint a Commercial Associate to join their expanding team in Manchester. This is a great opportunity for a solicitor with strong commercial contracts experience to step into a broad and dynamic role, with exposure to high-quality clients and real opportunities for development.
The successful candidate will be joining a firm known for its progressive culture, legal innovation, and commitment to practical, client-focused advice. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Manchester, with a hybrid model of 3–4 days per week in the office.
The role:
This is a newly created position within a growing commercial practice, supporting a range of clients across sectors. The work will span everything from commercial contracts to IP and data protection matters. You’ll also support junior lawyers in the team and play an active role in driving quality, innovation and continuous improvement in legal delivery.
What you’ll be doing:
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements, including service contracts, licensing, IP, IT and data protection matters
* Supporting clients with day-to-day commercial legal queries
* Advising on risk, liability and business impact in complex transactions
* Contributing to legal content, internal training and process improvements
* Supporting the development of junior members of the team
What we’re looking for:
* 2–5+ years’ post-qualification experience in commercial law
* Background in private practice, public sector or in-house legal environments
* Strong technical grounding and commercial awareness
* Excellent drafting, client communication and analytical skills
* Some knowledge of IP, cyber or data protection would be an advantage
* Enthusiastic about working in a collaborative and evolving legal team
