A vacancy has arisen for a dynamic and dedicated Insurance Officer at PD Ports within our experienced Insurance Team of five, reporting to the Head of Insurance. The team interfaces internally with a wide range of functions and collaborators across both operations and corporate teams. The position will be responsible for managing day-to-day activities related to the Group’s Insurance programmes and will involve a wide range of insurance, contracting, and risk management activities across the Group, including collaboration with both internal and external partners regarding key risk exposures.
Location & Working Arrangements
The five main responsibilities of our Insurance Officer will include:
1. Partnering with the wider business to provide advice on insurance queries, articulating coverage and programme challenges, and contributing to business initiatives from an insurance and risk management perspective.
2. Reviewing insurance policy coverage and collating data for insurance placement.
3. Managing claims, making informed liability decisions, attending claims meetings with brokers and insurers, and managing claims reserves in collaboration with the finance team.
4. Facilitating discussions on loss prevention activities.
5. Supporting and mentoring team members on insurance technical issues.
Candidate Requirements
We are seeking candidates who have:
* Experience in a similar role or within claims, broking, or underwriting capacities.
* An insurance qualification to Chartered Insurance Institute level or above is preferred, or a minimum of 3 years of insurance broking or in-house experience in a similar environment.
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a proactive approach to risk management and claims handling.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing high-quality documents and engaging at all organizational levels.
* Good IT skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets, as we plan to implement a new ERP system.
* The ability to think creatively and solve problems related to insurable risks and policy wording.
* The ability to meet deadlines and manage competing demands effectively.
