Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist – Brent CAMHS Enhanced Treatment Team (ETT)/Early Intervention Service (EIS)
12‑Month Fixed Term, Full Time 10 PAs.
We are looking for a Full‑time Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to work within the Brent CAMHS Enhanced Treatment Team (ETT) at CNWL.
There are 8 sessions within Brent CAMHS and 2 sessions within Brent Early Intervention Service (EIS) focusing on 14‑18 year olds.

Clinical Work
* Work with MDT colleagues to develop the Enhanced Treatment sub‑team, offer consultation, and collaborate with local authority and education teams.
* Provide a generic service for non‑urgent presentations of children and adolescents requiring psychiatric assessments and treatment, including direct clinical involvement and supervision of cases held by fellow clinicians.
* Provide a service for acutely mentally ill children and adolescents presenting in crisis, including comprehensive assessment and evidence‑based interventions across a range of theoretical models and treatments.
* Consult other multidisciplinary team members regarding the management of urgent assessments and risk.
* Assess about 15‑20 new patients per year and offer 10‑12 face‑to‑face contacts per week.
* Maintain a caseload of about 30‑40 cases in the CAMHS Enhanced Treatment team, most of whom will be prescribed medication and present with high clinical complexity, and consult with team members for reviews as appropriate.
* Provide clinical leadership to care coordinators and psychiatric reviews for the Brent EIS caseload of 10‑15 young people aged 14‑18 years, contributing the CAMHS perspective to day‑to‑day running of the service.
* Access Tier 4 provision as clinically appropriate and review the management and care of young people during inpatient admission to ensure effective use of resources.
Clinical Leadership and Management Duties
* Participate in developing new service models to improve delivery and outcomes, considering commissioners’ views and best‑practice evidence.
* Provide clinical leadership in the Brent Enhanced Treatment team.
* Contribute to the development of clinical protocols as required.
* Participate in the Brent CAMHS senior management group and leadership activities within the CAMHS‑ED service line.
Teaching, Training and Supervision
* Supervise junior doctors, medical students, and other multidisciplinary team members as required, including one CT and one FY2 doctor currently attached to Brent CAMHS.

Education and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
* Primary Medical Degree
* Full GMC Registration
* Section 12 MHA Approved
* Approved Clinician status or within 3 months of appointment
Desirable Criteria
* Additional postgraduate qualification relevant to children and adolescents
* Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent (or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date)
* Inclusion on the Specialist Register or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date
Experience, Skills and Abilities
Essential Criteria
* Competence in psycho‑pharmacology and non‑medication therapeutic approaches
* Experience in assessment and management of children and young people with complex mental health needs and high risk
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance/Care Quality
* Ability to participate in Medical Audit and Quality Assurance
* Experience teaching and supervising junior staff and other disciplines
