Your new role As this company's Architectural Technologist, working within their core design team, you'll have a wide arching set of duties & responsibilities - as part of a varied and compelling position. These will include producing design concepts, planning drawings and contractor's proposals through to detailed construction drawings (with projects typically ranging from £100k - £20m). Adhering to the company's drafting standards, you'll ensure all designs are in accordance with the cost budget as supplied by the estimating department for each project. Issue and control all relevant contract / project drawings and information - both electronic and paper copies. Attend design, progress and client meetings, in the office and externally, in relation to live projects, and also complete site visits to check as-built surveys to ensure compliance with drawings, and produce snag lists on larger, nominated projects. You'll also communicate and work closely with all internal teams and external consultants to ensure the overall design is coordinated throughout the process - including structural and M&E. A comprehensive list of duties & responsibilities can be disclosed as part of the process. What you'll need to succeed You'll possess a 3rd level qualification in Architectural Technology & Management, Architecture, HND in Building Studies or equivalent with relevant industry experience. Professional membership (CIAT / CIOB etc) would be desirable, but non-essential. You should be able to demonstrate practical architectural design / construction knowledge, and display strong technical skills / knowledge with high attention to detail, proficient in the use of the following software (and be the sort of person who keeps their awareness up to date with software developments & updates); ArchiCAD (desirable) / AutoCAD / Revit / Solibri (desirable) / Construction techniques & materials. Knowledge of BIM and the use of Viewpoint would also be desirable, and applicants should have a detailed working knowledge of all current Building Regulations. You should demonstrate leadership & a willingness to accept ownership of tasks, and have strong relationship-building skills to develop effective internal / external networks. Team working abilities are as important as individual strengths, and you should be organised, proactive and effective at working to deadlines.
