Role Summary
Reporting to the Electronics Engineer and VAVE Lead, the VAVE Mechanical Engineer is responsible for creating and delivering innovative solutions for technical‑related cost‑reduction projects while maintaining quality. The role is located in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.
Key Responsibilities
* Identification and execution of technical savings projects to meet annual incremental targets.
* Participate in internal and supplier VAVE workshops to identify cost savings opportunities and eliminate waste throughout the value stream using the VAVE process.
* Create design concepts and final production parts using PTC Creo and PTC Windchill PLM software; generate technical drawings and 3‑D models with GD&T detailing.
* Lead and own design review and DFMEA sessions to drive robust and reliable designs.
* Safely prototype and test design concepts, maintaining accurate records through ECN, version control, and other engineering standard work.
Essential Requirements
* Willingness to work from the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
* Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
* Minimum of 2 years industry experience.
* Appreciation of manufacturing techniques and principles (sheet metal processing, injection‑moulding, composite manufacturing).
* Experience with mechanical CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent) and PLM systems (e.g., PTC Windchill).
* Strong engineering skills—both theoretical and practical—to conduct design and analysis of mechanical systems.
