We are working with a small, specialist SEN school in the Barnet area to recruit a passionate and resilient Geography Teacher for an immediate start. This is a temp:to:perm opportunity for the right candidate.
The school supports young people aged 11:19 who are currently out of education or have struggled in mainstream settings. Students thrive in a calm, therapeutic and nurturing environment with high expectations and strong pastoral support.
This role is ideal for a teacher who is patient, empathetic and committed to helping students re:engage with learning and achieve meaningful academic and personal progress.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and inclusive Geography lessons to students with SEN and SEMH needs. You will:
Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
Create a calm, safe and structured learning environment
Use creative, practical and therapeutic approaches to teaching
Track progress through assessment, marking and feedback
Support students with GCSE and pathway preparation
Work closely with support staff, therapists and senior leaders
Contribute to enrichment activities, trips and wider school life
Act as a form tutor and support students pastoral development
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience working with students with SEN / SEMH
A nurturing, patient and resilient approach
Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
A genuine commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
