I am working with a leading bank, who is looking for a AVP Product Controller to join their dynamic Finance team. In this role, you will take full ownership of daily P&L production and analysis, balance sheet substantiation, and valuation oversight for a defined trading desk. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with front office teams and gain in-depth exposure to financial products, trading strategies, and risk management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
P&L Reporting:
* Produce, analyse, and report daily, monthly, and YTD trading P&L and balance sheet for assigned trading desks.
* Reconcile data between front office systems, sub-ledger, and the firm’s general ledger.
* Investigate and report material P&L adjustments and ensure timely resolution of balance sheet breaks.
* Complete daily control checks and ensure SOX compliance.
* Post daily adjustments (PCEs) and month-end entries including cost-plus and FX netting.
* Prepare monthly desk commentary and support senior leadership with weekly/monthly reporting.
Valuation Control (IPV):
* Conduct independent price verification of trading positions.
* Review and challenge trader inputs, market data, and inventory pricing.
* Perform valuation hierarchy assessments (FAS 157), collateral and client valuation reviews.
* Support provisioning, reserving, and prudential valuation assessments.
System & Trade Analysis (T+1):
* Monitor P&L on new trades and validate pricing against market data.
* Perform trade population and system consistency checks.
* Conduct de-recognition tests, trader mandate reviews, and hedge effectiveness testing.
* Support regulatory reporting such as Dodd-Frank and Volcker Rule analysis.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
* 3 years+ Product Control experience (Ideally within banking)
* Solid understanding of financial products and markets.
* Familiarity with derivative products and related accounting.
Skills:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent Excel and Access skills.
* Strong attention to detail with an ability to manage competing priorities.
* Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
* Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and financial reporting principles.
