We are embarking on an exciting new programme to install 870 miles of water pipes—the largest project in the UK’s water network for over a decade—and are now recruiting to scale our teams for this significant work.

We are looking for a Network Construction Operative to work as part of a team to deliver Mains Renewal construction activities at a specific site within one of the four regions (North, South, East, West).
Everything You Need to Know
Your key role will be to ensure we provide good, wholesome water with minimal disruption to our customers. You will undertake significant, large-scale construction activities on-site, including excavation, installation, testing, and commissioning of new mains and assets.
You will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of onsite Mains Renewal activities, working as part of a team of 6, focusing on water mains activity. This includes excavation, installation, testing, and commissioning of mains, assets, customer supply pipes, and boundary boxes.
This role requires a 42-hour work week, Monday to Friday, starting at 7:30 AM and ending at 4:30 PM, with a half-hour early finish at 4:00 PM on Fridays.
Key Accountabilities
* Identify and mitigate potential hazards, documenting findings in daily risk assessments.
* Undertake safe location and avoidance of underground hazards, including the safe removal and disposal of asbestos.
* Liaise with customers, providing support and updates during DMA renewals, and maintain customer supply with appropriate riders/overlanders as per design.
* Implement trenchless solutions where possible to reduce costs and disruption.
* Standby duties are required.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
The ideal candidate will have a full driving license and ideally hold Water Hygiene and NRSWA certifications, with significant utility industry experience. Experience in safe digging, main laying, and streetworks is highly desirable.
You should possess good communication skills and the ability to build successful working relationships, as teamwork is essential.
