Digital Ties is building the next-generation mobility platform with a data and integration layer that connects entities across the entire ecosystem.

Our solution sits at the intersection of interoperability and sustainability – transforming disconnected mobility systems into a unified, net-zero ecosystem that delivers a seamless experience for both drivers and cities.

We’re looking for a Founding Solution Architect to shape the technical vision and build the architectural foundation for our ecosystem platform - a scalable, secure, and interoperable platform designed for the future of connected mobility.

This is a pivotal, hands‑on leadership role for an innovative and forward thinking architect who thrives in a startup environment - someone who can architect the vision, guide developers, and turn mobility complexity into elegant, usable technology.

* Compensation: Flexible - either a salaried role with stock options or a contractor arrangement, with equity negotiable for the right candidate.
* Start Date: Immediate.
* Location: UK-based, ideally London or West London (near Kingston Upon Thames). Hybrid flexibility possible.
* Hours: Full-time (with flexibility).

Key Responsibilities

* Design the end‑to‑end system architecture for the Digital Platform - from frontend and backend through to data, payments, and integrations.
* Define and document the core technology stack (React Native, Node.js/Python microservices, AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines).
* Create architecture diagrams, data flow models, and integration blueprints for multi‑stakeholder interoperability (councils, partners etc.).
* Ensure all components adhere to security, compliance, and scalability standards (GDPR, PCI DSS, OAuth2).
* Define the API and integration framework for mobility, EV charging, and parking data sources.
* Architect a modular API gateway balancing REST and GraphQL.
* Guide the engineering team on SDKs, authentication, and performance optimisation for integrations.

DevOps & Delivery Leadership

* Establish DevOps pipelines, branching and security policies, and deployment best practices.
* Define cloud infrastructure as code (Terraform, ECS/Kubernetes) and observability standards (logging, monitoring, alerting).
* Provide technical mentorship to developers, ensuring architectural alignment and quality code delivery.

Data, Payments & Scalability

* Design data architecture for transactional, caching and analytical layers.
* Architect and document the payment orchestration system for multi‑party settlements.
* Oversee load and performance strategies for high availability and cost‑efficient scaling.
* Work closely with CTO, Product Director, Delivery Manager and CEO, and partners to align architecture with business and product goals.
* Translate complex technical design into clear, actionable guidance for non‑technical stakeholders.
* Participate in sprint planning, architecture reviews, and product roadmap sessions.

Documentation & Continuity

* Deliver robust, well‑documented system blueprints, API specs, and operational handbooks.
* Ensure continuity for future development and scaling phases.

Required Qualifications and Experience

* 7+ years of experience in software architecture, technical leadership, or solution design for cloud‑native platforms.
* Proven expertise in designing scalable, modular systems using AWS, Node.js/Python, and React/React Native.
* Strong understanding of API-first, microservices, and data interoperability principles.
* Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code and container orchestration.
* Excellent documentation, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
* Deep knowledge of security, compliance, and data privacy frameworks.

Nice-to-Have Skills

* Experience in mobility, parking, transportation, or smart city systems.
* Familiarity with UK mobility regulations and policy (e.g. local authorities, net‑zero frameworks).
* Experience working with councils, government bodies, or large ecosystem partners.
* Understanding of sustainability frameworks and how technology can drive behaviour change.
* Exposure to AI/ML, data analytics, or real‑time platforms in mobility or consumer services.

Company Description

Digital Ties is a UK-based technology company on a mission to reshape how people move through cities. We’re building a platform that connects drivers, commuters, service providers, businesses, and local government into a seamless ecosystem - making everyday journeys smarter, easier, and more sustainable.

Our goal is to meet the changing needs, expectations, and behaviours of modern travellers, creating solutions that remove friction from parking, charging, public transport, and micromobility.

By combining cutting‑edge technology with over 50+ years of experience in innovation and digital transformation, we’re driving the future of connected mobility.

We’re at an exciting stage - expanding our team, building and scaling our product, and co‑developing with industry leaders. And as part of the British Parking Association’s AI Taskforce, we’re shaping the future of parking and mobility to solve everyday challenges across the UK, and beyond.

Why Join Us

At Digital Ties, solution architecture isn’t about maintaining status quo - it’s about reshaping how people and cities move. Joining now means:

* Shape the foundation of one of the UK’s most ambitious connected mobility platforms - at the intersection of tech, transport, and sustainability.
* Early ownership: work directly with the founders to define the platform and culture from day one.
* Flexibility and autonomy: hybrid working, flexible structure, and creative freedom to build what you believe in.
* Impact that matters: help cities, operators, and drivers move toward net‑zero through smarter, interoperable data.
* Growth potential: opportunity to evolve into CTO or Chief Architect as the company scales.

If you want to be part of a team building meaningful tech that makes cities cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable, this role is for you.
