Why this job matters
As a Resource Manager you'll take ownership of resource forecasting and allocation across our Defence portfolio. You'll ensure we have the right people, with the right skills, available at the right time — enabling our teams to deliver critical services with confidence and clarity.
In this role, you will lead the resource planning process end‑to‑end: from forecasting demand and analysing utilisation, to running governance forums and presenting insights to senior stakeholders. Organised and data‑driven, you'll be a trusted partner to leaders across the business, helping them make informed decisions based on accurate, timely information.
This is an exciting opportunity if you enjoy solving complex resourcing challenges, working in a matrix organisation, and influencing at a senior level.
What you'll be doing
- Produce accurate short‑ and medium‑term resourcing forecasts using data inputs such as active assignments, sales pipeline and project demand.
- Continuously track changes in demand and adjust plans to keep resourcing aligned to business needs.
- Match people to work intelligently based on skills, availability and business priorities.
- Lead and run Market Unit Resource Board (MURB) sessions, ensuring decisions are well‑documented and acted upon.
- Develop and maintain simple, effective processes and tools to support resource management.
- Produce high‑quality MI, including utilisation, time‑booking and recoverability reports.
- Use data analysis to identify trends, risks and opportunities, providing clear insights to senior stakeholders.
- Present resource forecasts and insights to senior managers and directors in a clear and compelling manner.
- Build strong relationships across project, service and design teams to understand changing needs and constraints.
Experience Required
- Background in Project Controls, PMO, or a similar project/programme environment.
- Stakeholder management, including experience engaging up to Director level.
- Ability to design simple, clear processes that work across complex, multi‑disciplinary environments.
- Analytical and Excel skills, with the ability to automate and improve reporting.
- Comfortable interpreting data and translating it into meaningful recommendations.
- Attention to detail with strong organisational discipline.
- Confidence working in a large matrix organisation with multiple priorities.
- Experience producing resourcing forecasts and presenting insights.
DON'T MEET EVERY SINGLE REQUIREMENT?
Studies have shown that women and people who are disabled, LGBTQ+, neurodiverse or from ethnic minority backgrounds are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification and criteria.
We're committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace where everyone can be their best, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every requirement on the Job Description, please apply anyway - you may just be the right candidate for this or other roles in our wider team.
