Overview
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and highly motivated Band 6 Community Deputy Team Leader to join our dedicated District Nursing team. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse with substantial community experience to develop leadership and management skills while continuing to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Team Leader in the day‑to‑day operational management of the district nursing service, ensuring safe, effective, and person‑centred care to a diverse caseload of patients in their homes and community settings.
* Lead by example, providing clinical expertise, guidance, and supervision to Band 5 Staff Nurses and Band 3 Healthcare Support Workers.
* Deputise for the Team Leader by overseeing daily workload allocation, new referrals, and resource management, and managing unforeseen operational challenges.
* Foster a supportive team culture, contributing to staff appraisals, mentorship, and induction of new staff.
* Implement service developments and manage performance issues.
* Liaise extensively with patients, families, GPs, social workers and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integrated care and accurate, contemporaneous record‑keeping.
* Maintain personal clinical expertise through CPD, reflective practice and adherence to all policies and NMC standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Registered Nurse with a Band 6 grade or equivalent experience.
* Substantial experience in community nursing.
* Strong leadership potential and proven ability to manage complex patient caseloads.
* Excellent clinical skills, superb communication abilities and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
