Job Title

Software Development Lead (Embedded SW)

Job Description

Software Development Lead (Embedded Linux)

In late January, we announced that Bridgefield Capital signed an agreement to acquire Philips’ Emergency Care business, which includes leading brands and products like HeartStart AEDs, Intrepid and DFM100 monitor defibrillators, Tempus monitor and Tempus ALS systems, and Corsium and ECI informatics solutions. We expect the transaction to close at the end of 2025.

With Bridgefield’s support and building on our 40+ year legacy of growth and innovation in emergency medical technology, the Emergency Care business will continue passionately pursuing our mission of saving lives, lowering healthcare costs, and advancing resuscitation science while serving public access AED, EMS, military, and hospital markets.

In this role, as part of an agile company with dedicated resources, you'll have opportunities to join the “NewCo” we are forming, grow professionally and personally, and potentially make a significant impact in the acute care space—affecting consumers, patients, and healthcare workers relying on these life-saving solutions.

Your role:

1. Embedded Software Development: Lead the design, development, and sustainment of embedded software, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

2. System and Software Support: Provide technical support for customer and product investigations, defect resolution, lifecycle maintenance, and feature enhancements.

3. Process and Documentation: Contribute to software process controls, design documentation, risk management activities, and CAPA processes.

4. Requirements and Architecture: Translate customer and business requirements into robust embedded systems and software architectures aligned with product goals.

5. Technical Analysis: Interpret technical documentation such as circuit diagrams and datasheets; decompose complex designs into integrated electronic, mechanical, and software subsystems.

6. Engineering Excellence: Apply rigorous, science-based engineering practices during design reviews, decision-making, problem solving, and verification testing, emphasizing risk management and safety.

7. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant medical device standards (e.g., IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-xx, IEC 62304) and quality procedures for regulatory approvals.

8. Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster strong relationships across R&D, PMO, product management, operations, regulatory, and quality teams, especially coordinating with principal software subcontractors.

9. Technical mentorship and guidance: Serve as a technical leader within the team, providing guidance, support, and oversight as needed.

Additional Information:

* Be sure to discuss salary, bonus, and benefits with your recruiter.

* You have worked within an ISO 14971 quality system, including experience with product approvals for EU-MDD, EU-MDR, and FDA.
* You demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to accept and drive change in a dynamic environment.
