We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Engineering Department at our Braintree site.
Role:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the primary function of the role will be to:
1. Provide technical support to evaluate existing processes and configure manufacturing systems to reduce costs, improve machine reliability, and develop best practices within the manufacturing environment.
2. Standardise and document existing and new manufacturing processes, drawings, and layouts.
3. Manage, analyse, and update the company's ERP system for new manufacturing routes and products.
4. Lead and manage design projects focused on:
o Improving existing manufacturing processes
o Development, introduction, and adoption of new technology
o Research and development of new products
o Value engineering of existing products
o Gauging reproducibility and repeatability
Responsibilities:
* Manage tooling and fixture design and their manufacture to support production needs.
* Lead design activities for R&D, assisting with converting concept models to manufactured parts through design for manufacture and assembly principles.
* Produce and manage product drawings and layouts for new products, tooling, and gauging to facilitate internal or external manufacturing.
* Manage and maintain the drawing modification process and document database.
* Assist Process Primes in developing and improving production processes.
* Identify opportunities to adapt and adopt new technologies across processes.
* Lead Continuous Improvement activities within manufacturing.
* Analyze existing products for manufacturing efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities.
* Conduct team briefings, workshops, and training to ensure smooth integration of new processes, equipment, and systems.
* Develop process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures and setup instructions.
* Assist in managing and controlling machine documentation, such as manuals, maintenance instructions, CNC programs, and control software.
Skills Required:
* Formal qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering.
* Strong understanding of Maths.
* Willingness to challenge oneself and seek help when needed.
* Ability to lead, manage, and engage with all levels of the business.
* Excellent organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
* Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office packages.
* Willingness and ability to travel and represent the company remotely.
Preferred Skills:
* Knowledge of both imperial and metric measurement systems.
* Understanding of precision measurement to 0.001 mm.
* Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques.
* Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies.
* Understanding of metal cutting and manufacturing processes.
* Knowledge of metrology and measurement techniques.
* Project management experience.
* CAD/CAM experience, preferably in SolidWorks, FANUC FIPT, or Alkart CNC Wizard.
Hours of Work:
Monday – Thursday: 07:30 to 16:00
Friday: 07:30 to 15:00
