Infection Prevention and Control Nurse - Band 6

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) nurse to join our team as a Band 6 Infection Prevention and Control Nurse. The postholder will play an important role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality, responsive IPC service across the organisation, working under the guidance of the Deputy Lead Nurse for IPC and providing essential support to the Director and Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control. We are looking for a passionate, proactive practitioner with a strong interest in IPC. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the confidence to work collaboratively and contribute to improvement initiatives. The postholder will support the delivery of the Trusts IPC strategy and annual work programme, participating in surveillance, audit, outbreak management, education, and quality improvement activities. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist clinical advice, support and leadership for all health care professionals across the organisation. Maintaining a high profile in the clinical area, acting as a resource and role model is pivotal to this position. The post holder will work in collaboration within the IPC team, Consultant Microbiologists, laboratory staff, ward/clinical teams, Clinical Site Management team and all staff in the Trust. The successful candidate will build strong, collaborative working relationships with external partners and systemwide IPC colleagues, including those within the NHS Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB), the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), and Health Protection teams.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will:
* Provide specialist IPC advice to Trust staff;
* Participate in surveillance activity, including monitoring of alert organisms, supporting outbreak investigations and contributing to audits;
* Support the delivery of IPC education for clinical and non-clinical staff;
* Support the implementation of effective IPC measures, ensuring safe practice when caring for infectious patients;
* Participate in the development and implementation of IPC policies and guidelines;
* Support in monitoring standards of IPC practice across clinical areas.
Qualifications
* Evidence of consistent professional and education development;
* Post registration training/qualification health related (BSc / MSc) and willingness to undertake further training (in IPC);
* Teaching qualification;
Experience
* Significant post registration experience, working in healthcare / hospital setting;
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary setting and able to communicate effectively with all disciplines of staff;
* Experience of teaching and delivering education;
* Experience in policy and guideline development;
* Experience in change management within the clinical environment.
