Portsmouth Water is excited to announce an opening for a Production Controls/Electrical, Instrumentation Control and Automation (EICA)/Operational Technology (OT) Engineer in our highly regarded Production Department.
We are looking for a proactive and solutions-oriented individual responsible for designing and developing solutions and processes across our production and network assets.
You will program, modify, install, and commission control systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and Telemetry systems, with a focus on cyber security and resilience. Your role is vital in mitigating risks to supply sufficiency and driving continuous improvement in OT performance. You will work closely with Operations and Technical teams to enhance site reliability, monitor quality compliance, and ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of our workforce through control and automation upgrades and projects.
What will you be doing?
* Deliver system optimizations and improvements to enable efficient operation of production assets through OT/ICS projects.
* Provide EICA/OT support and expertise to water treatment works and network assets.
* Train and mentor colleagues across the business.
* Conduct Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.
* Commission Production OT works as required.
* Manage change control of electronic documents, software, PLC/HMI/SCADA/GeoSCADA files.
* Proactively monitor OT cybersecurity equipment and systems.
* Collect, process, and analyze operational data.
* Perform complex fault finding and diagnosis on Industrial Control Systems.
* Assist with reactive and operational tasks as needed.
What do you need?
* Recognized vocational qualification in a relevant field.
* HNC/HND in Electronic Engineering or Control Systems Engineering.
* Advanced knowledge of industrial control systems, process instrumentation, and hardwired circuitry.
* Proficiency in PLC, SCADA, and HMI design/modification.
* Experience with Telemetry configuration and OT communication protocols.
* Ability to work with project/engineering documentation.
* BS7671 18th Edition certification.
* Understanding of cyber security policies and equipment.
* Experience throughout the full project lifecycle, including commissioning and root cause analysis.
* Strong organizational skills and report writing ability.
* Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) certification.
