Toprovide a safe, hygienic, nutritious and timely food service for staff andvisitors. Assisting in the delivery of a high standard of food service whichmeets the requirements of food hygiene legislation, Trust/Company Food SafetyPolicy and national standards as dictated by the governments national plan toprovide a safe, hygienic, nutritious and timely food service for staff andvisitors. Responsible for checking and emptying bins and keeping the area clean and tidy as required. Involved in cleaning schedules including stacking the dishwasher and cleaning of all catering equipment.

To work under the direction of the Catering Supervisor, the Kitchen Porter supports front of house service, whilst being courteous andcaring to patients, visitors and all users. The post holder will observe thepolicies and procedures of the Trust and Company.

Job description
Job responsibilities
1. The hygienic handling of food products in accordance with food hygiene legislation and the Trust/Company Food Safety Policy (HACCP).
2. Observation of statutory and Trust/Company food hygiene regulations.
3. Kitchen Porters are responsible for checking and emptying bins in the kitchen and dining room and the Atrium coffee bar throughout the day.
4. Keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy and brushing the floor as required.
5. To be involved in the general cleaning following the appropriate cleaning schedules including stacking the dishwasher, the use of an electrical floor scrubber, vacuuming and dusting service areas and cleaning of all catering equipment.
6. Appropriate disposal of waste in accordance with instruction ensuring that wastage is kept to a minimum.
7. Check stock deliveries into the catering department and complete the appropriate documentation.
8. Ensure stock is dated and stock rotation procedures are observed.
9. Complies with Company/Trust and legislative Health and Safety regulations.
10. Observes the quality control procedure within the Catering Department.
11. Ensure that personal appearance, conduct and customer care are of the highest standard.
12. Ensure that a high standard of personal grooming is maintained including wearing the required uniform and PPE provided.
