About the Role
Binnies are recruiting graduate Geomorphologists and Hydromorphologists into our growing multi-disciplinary Environmental Services team. Binnies is a world-leader in Water and Flood Risk Management, delivering projects for clients including the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, Local Authorities, and Water Utility Companies. Our team also works on infrastructure projects across sectors such as transport and renewable energy. Our Catchment Management and Natural Capital teams utilize various modelling tools to evaluate catchment interventions and their impacts on water resources and quality.
This role supports our water and catchment work, developing innovative catchment management approaches and solutions like blue-green infrastructure through our joint venture, Solutions By Nature.
You can work from our offices in Redhill, Bradford on Avon, Swansea, or Chester, or discuss flexible working options. We foster a collaborative environment with active Communities of Practice and pride ourselves on high standards in environmental consultancy, holding the IEMA EIA Quality Mark and being registered with CIEEM and the Landscape Institute.
Responsibilities
* Supporting geomorphology surveys, including walkovers and fluvial audits.
* Contributing to Water Framework Directive Compliance Assessments.
* Assisting in river restoration, nature-based solutions, wetlands, and flood risk management projects.
* Participating in Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) projects.
* Providing advice on engineering implications for water environments and developing mitigation strategies.
* Contributing to Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.
* Liaising with project teams, clients, stakeholders, and the public as needed.
Candidate Profile
This role is suitable for a recent graduate with an environmental-related degree. Key skills and knowledge include:
* Interest in fluvial geomorphology and hydromorphology.
* Understanding of Water Framework Directive and Biodiversity Net Gain.
* Interest in catchment management and working with interdisciplinary teams.
* Ability to use analytical tools, models, and manage data.
* Interest in river restoration and wetland design.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Hold a full UK driving licence.
