About the role

Are you passionate about rehabilitation? Could you help people make meaningful and sustained changes in their lives? If so, then a career as a Programme Facilitator in the Probation Service is for you. You will deliver a range of Accredited Programmes and Structured Interventions to people subject to Community Orders or on licence after release from prison. The majority of programmes are delivered in the evening, so evening work is essential. You will also travel to different locations to deliver these programmes; travel expenses can be claimed.

Responsibilities

* Deliver groupwork and individual work to people subject to Community Orders or on licence after release from prison.
* Deliver accredited programmes and structured interventions designed to support people to desist from crime, build on strengths and lead proactive lives.
* Work with people who have committed domestic abuse, sexual abuse or other violent and acquisitive offences.
* Monitor progress, risk and wellbeing throughout the intervention.
* Keep accurate records and share insights with relevant teams.
* Work closely with courts and criminal justice agencies to support sentence management.
* Provide workshops and briefings to probation staff and external stakeholders.
* Use pro‑social modelling to reinforce positive behaviours.
* Deliver sessions in a safe and structured environment, managing group dynamics, addressing challenging behaviour and ensuring session effectiveness.

Benefits

* Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week, with unsocial hours payments for evenings (30%) and Saturdays (50%).
* Annual leave of 25 days on appointment, increasing to 30 days after five years, plus public holidays.
* Pension via the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) run through the Greater Manchester Pension Fund.
* Extensive training and professional development opportunities.
* Family‑friendly policies (reduced hours, job share) and flexible benefits such as voluntary benefits, retail vouchers, and discounts.
* Paid paternity, adoption and maternity leave.
* Free annual sight tests for employees who use computer screens.
