Job Details

Hays is working with an established professional services firm who are looking to appoint a proactive and experienced Practice Manager to lead internal financial operations, ensure compliance, and support the leadership team. You'll be joining a collaborative office environment managing a small team of finance and administrative staff. This is a pivotal role, offering the chance to shape organisational processes and contribute to high-level decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Reporting

1. Produce and distribute management accounts within agreed timescales
2. Monitor performance against key indicators
3. Prepare VAT and CT61 returns for multiple entities
4. Manage cashflow forecasting and financial analysis
5. Collaborate with leadership on budgets and annual financial statements


Payroll & Pension Administration

6. Process payroll for approx. 140 employees
7. Administer pension schemes and complete annual reconciliation


HR Coordination

8. Support HR matters including promotions and salary adjustments
9. Maintain accurate employee absence records
10. Optimise use of internal HR systems in collaboration with the deputy manager


Compliance & Organisational Oversight

11. Lead preparation of the annual return
12. Oversee insurance portfolio and regulatory documentation
13. Actively participate in partner and committee meetings
14. Update and manage policies, handbooks, and procedural documents
15. Contribute to strategic projects and initiatives


Skills & Qualifications

16. ACA/ACCA qualified (Level 7 or equivalent)
17. Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
18. At least 3 years in a leadership or management role
19. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
20. Exceptional communication and team leadership abilities
