Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Marine Systems Engineer to join the Naval and Marine Operation Team in Basingstoke. The successful candidate will support global activities, providing technical expertise across floating LNG (FLNG) and FPSO facilities, from design through execution phases.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and develop optimal technical solutions for marine systems.
* Prepare technical specifications and functional requirements for marine systems in FPSO/FLNG projects during FEED and execution phases.
* Review and monitor contractor deliverables (including P&IDs, PFDs, and equipment specifications).
* Provide technical support during HAZID/HAZOP and clarification meetings.
* Evaluate and review documentation provided by contractors and shipyards.
* Support follow-on engineering activities for ongoing projects.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Naval Engineering with a focus on Marine Systems.
* Strong knowledge of Classification Society Rules, SOLAS, and MARPOL relevant to FPSO and FLNG.
* Experience in FEED and EPC LNG projects, with prior seagoing experience as Second or Chief Engineer.
* Background in oil tankers or LNG carriers; classification society surveyor or tanker/LNG vetting experience is highly advantageous.
* Proven participation in HAZID/HAZOP processes.
* OPITO certification for offshore travel preferred.
Technical Skills
* Marine systems design expertise including:
* Slop and drain systems
* Bilge and ballast systems
* Inert gas systems
* Diesel and gas power generation (and auxiliary systems)
* Freshwater production and compressed air systems
* Oil & gas loading, storage, liquefaction, and offtake systems
* LNG tank design and maintenance
* Proficiency in preparing and reviewing P&IDs/PFDs for marine systems.
Other Requirements
* Willingness to undertake short business trips outside the UK.
