Job summary

Here within the Cancer Nursing Team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we are looking to recruit a dynamic registered nurse to the post of Band 6 Urology Cancer Specialist Nurse.

37.5 Hours per Week - Permanent - York (Cross site working required)

The role requires a nurse who can work autonomously within their scope of practice and support the team to deliver safe effective care to our patients. Furthermore, the appointee must be equipped with excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse multi-disciplinary group of clinicians, patients, and allied healthcare providers.

You must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, organised, computer literate and able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to continued personal development.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload.

The post holder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care. The post holder will provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the speciality service. The post holder will ensure cost effective use of resources.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered Nurse (Level 1)
* Diploma level education of equivalent
* Recognised teaching/ assessing qualification
* Working towards degree or equivalent
* Non-medical prescriber - as determined by the needs of the service


Experience

* Experience at Band 5 or equivalent including within a relevant speciality
* Audit & Standard setting
* Service development and/ or change management


Training

* Evidence of continued professional development
* Willing to undergo training as necessary
