This is a fantastic opportunity to join a major UK infrastructure project as a Senior Environmental & Sustainability Advisor. You’ll be based full-time on-site in one of the UK’s most remote and beautiful locations, playing a key role in delivering environmental and sustainability strategies on a large-scale energy infrastructure scheme. Backed by one of the country’s most established contractors, this position offers job security, scope for progression, and the chance to genuinely shape how sustainability is embedded in complex, high-impact civil engineering works.
The Senior Environmental & Sustainability Advisor will be responsible for:
– Leading environmental and sustainability input across project stages from design through construction.
– Engaging with regulatory bodies, subcontractors and stakeholders to ensure environmental compliance and best practice.
– Overseeing and improving environmental performance reporting and monthly KPIs.
– Supporting permitting, licensing and mitigation strategies, particularly in relation to ecology, peatland, water and flood risk.
– Providing guidance to junior advisors and contributing to a growing site-based environment team.
– Playing a key role in sustainability training, upskilling, and knowledge sharing across the project.
The Senior Environmental & Sustainability Advisor will have:
– At least 5 years of environmental experience in a site-based construction, infrastructure or energy setting.
– A solid understanding of UK environmental regulations, with practical experience handling compliance, ecology and land-based mitigation.
– Experience working directly with regulators, delivering consents and managing permit conditions.
– The ability to work independently in a remote site-based role (minimum 4 nights per week on Skye).
– A full UK driving license and willingness to travel across the project route.
– Membership of a relevant body such as IEMA, CIWEM, or CIEEM (or working toward this).
