The Opportunity
Prime Workforce on behalf of BEAR Scotland are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Chargehand/Foreman – Industrial Painter (Bridges) to join their team. This role combines hands-on painting and blasting work with frontline supervision, making it ideal for a skilled tradesperson ready to take the next step into team leadership. You will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of bridge maintenance and painting works, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. In addition to your technical tasks, you will oversee a small team, coordinate workloads, and act as the point of contact for management and site supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and lead a team of industrial painters and support staff on site. Coordinate daily tasks and ensure work is completed to required standards and deadlines. Sign off completed works, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards. Perform blasting and painting tasks in accordance with sector scheme standards. Support installation and removal of bespoke access systems. Carry out cyclic maintenance tasks as part of scheduled routines. Operate bridge access systems (gantries)Actively participate in Rescue Team activities. Liaise with site management and report progress or issues. Ensure all team members comply with Health & Safety legislation and site rules
Skills and Experience
Valid ICATS Applicator module card
Valid ICATS Blasting/Spraying modules
Proven experience in a supervisory or chargehand role within an industrial painting environment
Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and meet tight deadlines
Full UK driving licence
