Description of what the apprentice will do in their role:
We are looking for a motivated Apprentice Wood Machinist to join our team and train in manufacturing and producing machined components for the building industry.
As a Apprentice Wood Machinist, you will learn the specialist skills involved in preparing, machining, and supplying a wide range of components using various machines. these include:
* Cross cut
* Band saw
* Planer-Thicknesser
* Circular Saw
The role will also include basic assembly operations when needed, and the following roles to be performed to enable a successful outcome in your role:
* Perform manual handling tasks to enable safe, and efficient movement of components and timber.
* House keeping routines to enable and keep a safe working environment.
* Customer service tasks in relation to acknowledging and supporting customers with their enquiries.
* Manage and organise stock effectively
* Collaborate within a team environment
* Work independently, using initiative to solve challenges
Comprehensive Wood MachiningTraining:
During your Standard Level 2 Furniture Making Operativeapprenticeship programme you will receive training both off and on the job. You will be trained at the employer within the workplace and also at WEBS Training in Nottingham on aday release basis once a week.
You will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training. WEBS Training aim to build on the skills you already have so you reach your full potential both personally and professionally.
Training will be provided in all areas of wood machining to ensure you can create practical and bespoke components using both traditional and modern techniques and materials to produce aesthetically pleasing and fit for purpose components.
If you have already achieved GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or have equivalent qualification you will be exempt from undertaking Functional Skills, however English and maths support will be provided for all apprentices throughout the length of their programme.
