About the role

Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Project Manager (Building Surveyor) to join our Enabling Functions - Property team located in Derby, but will be travelling UK Wide.

Please Note: This role will require the successful applicant to hold a full driving license, due to the travelling involved.

What you'll be doing

As a Project Manager (Building Surveyor) you'll:

* Manage the day to day delivery of capital projects within the UK Permanent Estate, circa 10-20 projects per year with combined values up to £5m
* Draft and issue the brief
* Set up and manage JCT D&B contract
* Coordinate contractor and internal teams for delivery
* Manage the budget, review and advise on variations for approval by the Head of
* Ensure works completed in compliance with safety regulations
* Ensure O&Ms and project information is handed over to the Facilities team
* Undertake dilapidations assessments and negotiate settlements across the estate
* Drive improvements to D&I and sustainability across our estate

Who we're looking for

You'll have/be:

* Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time management skills and strong attention to detail for meticulous review of plans and costs
* Experience of providing support, whilst working in a fast-paced environment to meet targets and deadlines.
* Strong communication, relationship and negotiation skills and a curiosity led approach to delivery
* An understanding of CDM
* Advantageous – ability to use AutoCAD
* APM qualification is advantageous or working towards APM fundamentals (support will be provided)
* Degree or final year of degree with expected 2.1 in building surveying or project management
* Full clean driving licence (UK travel is required).
* Excellent IT skills, confident using Microsoft office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Copilot)
* Excellent team player with the ability to work on own initiative.
* Experience of working in commercial fit out
