St George’s Theatre is one of Great Yarmouth’s most distinctive cultural spaces — a busy, communityfocused venue presenting theatre, live performance, creative projects, and events throughout the year. We are looking for an Operations Manager who can bring energy, structure, and leadership to the daytoday running of our historic building.
What this role is really about
This is the central operational role in the organisation. You’ll make sure the theatre runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently, supporting staff and volunteers and ensuring the building is always ready for audiences, artists, and community users. You’ll be the person who keeps everything moving: coordinating people, solving problems, improving systems, and maintaining high standards across the venue.
What you’ll lead on
* Keeping the building functioning well — from maintenance and contractors to ensuring spaces are ready for use.
* Creating a safe, compliant environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors.
* Supporting and coordinating the operational team and volunteer programme.
* Ensuring events and hires run smoothly and represent the theatre at its best.
* Managing practical processes that keep the organisation efficient and wellorganised.
* Contributing to financial oversight through monitoring expenditure and ensuring value for money.
What we’re looking for
* Someone with experience running operations in a venue, cultural space, hospitality setting, or similar environment.
* A confident peoplemanager who can support staff and volunteers with clarity and care.
* A calm, organised problemsolver who enjoys improving systems and keeping things on track.
* Someone comfortable taking responsibility for compliance and safety.
* A person who thrives in a busy, publicfacing environment and takes pride in high standards.
* A collaborative colleague who enjoys being part of a small, committed team.
Why this role matters
St George’s is a growing organisation with a strong community presence. This role provides the operational backbone that allows the Theatre Director and wider team to deliver an ambitious artistic and community programme. Your work will directly shape the experience of everyone who walks through our doors.
