JOB DETAILS JOB BAND: E CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed-term Contract, 1 x Full-time and 1 x Part-time (4dpw) DEPARTMENT: BBC Studios Natural History Unit (NHU) LOCATION: Bridgewater House, Bristol with at least 3 dpw in the office. PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £87,200 - £109,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE We are looking for two visually gifted, highly experienced and enthusiastic Series Producers to lead an exciting blue chip landmark series for a 3rd party broadcaster. The right candidates will be highly creative natural history storytellers with visual flair, and a proven ability to build dramatic, emotionally engaging character stories. They will be capable of working at and delivering the standards expected for a landmark natural history series. They will have a clear and committed understanding of the constraints of budget and be an inspiring, considerate, and responsible team leader. The role will include oversight of every stage of the production process including research and pre-production, location filming, archive and post-production. As a Series Producer you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering this project, helping deliver creative excellence that connects with global audiences. Your Key Responsibilities And Impact Alongside the Executive Producer and Production, the Series Producers will be responsible for recruiting the team, able to attract the very best talent – from camera crews to researchers, producers and editors. Having the skills to lead and inspire a large team, and successfully manage performance and development is essential to the role. Oversight of all production processes on a day-to-day basis, and to lead the team to deliver a premium landmark behaviour-led series, ensuring the extremely high standards expected of this genre, and meeting the editorial aims of the series. Create compelling stories and narratives by using excellent storytelling techniques and writing skills suitable for a broad audience. Develop and deliver a bold and innovative visual style that delivers the editorial in an engaging and creative way. Working closely with all team members and at every stage of production to ensure production processes that enable the team to effectively deliver the series editorial and visual style. To plan strategically to ensure editorial aspirations align with budgets and available resources. For the part time role you should have experience of fast turnaround, re-packaging to fit specific editorial steers, and overseeing complex post-production. To collaborate effectively with other SPs on the project, ensuring consistency and alinement of editorial vision across the project. Essential Criteria YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Extensive experience of working in blue chip natural history filmmaking, turning complex natural history stories into compelling television and delivering ambitious sequences, including world-firsts. An exceptional storyteller with outstanding editorial judgement and a track record of delivering emotionally engaging sequences and episodes. Proven ability to set vision, lead and motivate the team, ensuring that the creative for the series is communicated and understood. Responsibility for the construction and oversight of a full production schedule and budget in conjunction with Production Management, and others as appropriate. Proven ability to work to tight deadlines, and under pressure. Experience of building effective and collaborative relationships with Production Managers, other SPs, Exec Producers, and contributing to relationships with clients, including responding to feedback. Desirable Criteria Strong experience of influencing, negotiating, and communicating effectively and sensitively both internally and with external agencies/partners. Experience with third party clients. Experiences of contributing to marketing and press campaigns. An understanding of how to use new technology in a creative way that enhances storytelling and brings a new look to a series. Be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the audience needs in a rapidly changing US television market.
