Job Description:

MCS Group is delighted to be working with a large public sector employer in County Antrim to find an Environmental Health Officer. This role offers a 4-day working week, a competitive salary, and the opportunity to secure a longer contract. Location: Ballymena. Contract Length: 9 months with potential extension. Salary: £38.5k (pro-rata).


The Role:

1. Conduct inspections, investigations, assessments, and activities across various environmental health functions, including public health, food safety, and housing.
2. Take enforcement actions in line with legislation and guidance, including serving notices and legal preparations.
3. Act as an expert witness and provide advice and reports for legal, planning, and public health matters.
4. Collaborate with external agencies, businesses, and groups to support environmental health goals.
5. Contribute to planning reviews, public consultations, health campaigns, and reactive monitoring, including out-of-hours responses.
6. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, support training, and perform administrative duties.


The Person:

1. Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent experience.
2. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
3. At least 1 year of experience in a public sector environmental health role.
4. Knowledge of current legislation.
5. Stakeholder engagement skills.
6. Full and current driver's license and access to transport.
