The OpportunityWe are proud to be partnering with a major defence systems integrator on a flagship programme supporting UK national security. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to take a leadership role within a cutting-edge, secure IT delivery programme.This is a rare opportunity to operate at the strategic and technical forefront of defensive cyber, helping to safeguard mission-critical systems for the UK Government. Based out of Farnborough, this hybrid role (2–3 days onsite) offers a dynamic and collaborative environment, supporting some of the UK's most sensitive programmes.You must be eligible for DV Clearance for this role.The RoleAs a Senior Cyber Security Engineer, you'll lead the design, implementation, and assurance of security controls across complex cloud and infrastructure environments—most notably AWS.
Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the secure delivery of new systems into live service, as well as ongoing protection, compliance, and incident response.You will:Own the vulnerability management strategy across platforms, leading scanning, remediation, and reporting activitiesDesign and enforce endpoint security policies, access controls, and malware protectionsLead incident identification and response efforts, ensuring swift containment and root cause analysisOversee system hardening and compliance with industry standards (CIS, STIG, NIST)Contribute to strategic security planning and advise engineering and programme leadership on cyber risksProvide oversight and review of technical documentation, ensuring quality and audit readinessRepresent cyber security in high-level programme planning and governance forums (SWGs, PI Planning, etc.)As a senior figure in the team, you'll also mentor junior engineers, help shape best practices, and collaborate closely with architecture, operations, and governance teams.The PersonThis role requires a proven leader in cyber security with deep technical knowledge, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and a track record of delivering in secure, high-assurance environments.Essential skills & experience:Extensive hands-on experience in cyber security engineering roles, ideally in defence, government, or secure sectorsAdvanced knowledge of AWS security services, network security, endpoint protection, and vulnerability managementStrong working knowledge of compliance frameworks and standards (CIS, STIG, NIST, Government Functional Standard 007)Proven ability to lead security planning, risk assessments, and incident response activitiesExcellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skillsEligibility for DV (Developed Vetting) clearanceExperience leading or mentoring engineering teams and influencing security posture across a programme or organisationThis is a high-impact role suited to a security professional looking to step up into a strategic leadership position within a mission-led, secure technology environment.The salary is £75,000 to £80,000 with excellent benefits.If you would like to learn more about the role, please apply through the advert and we will be in touch to discuss.TPBN1_UKTJ
