An exciting opportunity has arisen for Registered Nurses who are experienced, motivated, and committed to providing a high standard of family-centred care to join our Children's Nursing Team caring for Children and Young People.
The successful applicants will be based on the two Acute General Paediatrics Wards at The Royal Glamorgan Hospital and will be working as part of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
The Paediatric Unit at The Royal Glamorgan Hospital has two 19-bedded wards working as a unit. Ward 18 includes a Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU), providing assessment, diagnostic, planned investigations, and treatment services, as well as a surgical day unit. Ward 17 is the general ward with a 2-bedded High Dependency Area.
This post is currently rotational 12-hour shifts, including days and night shifts, but other considerations can be discussed at interview.
We offer a Mentorship and Induction Programme for newly Registered Staff Nurses, or a Supervisory support period for experienced Nurses joining our team. The team provides support and guidance, with many opportunities for training and personal development.
We are a friendly, enthusiastic, and innovative team committed to doing our best for every child, young person, and their family. We work closely with all other disciplines within the Health Board. The post involves taking responsibility for the ward during a shift in the absence of the ward manager/deputy sister.
The role involves working as a skilled team member to provide high standards of holistic care to children and their families in various settings. You will be expected to be an effective team leader and role model, supporting less experienced staff. Flexibility to support the ward team and working as part of a multidisciplinary team is essential.
The post holder must be accountable for their own actions and those of their supervisees, following policies, procedures, and the NMC code of conduct.
Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential. Speaking and listening skills at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above are preferred, which involves basic conversations with patients about their health.
