Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Marchwood area Salary: £13.75 per hour Contract: Term Time Only Employer: Teaching Personnel About the Role: Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in the Marchwood area. This is an excellent opportunity to support young people aged 11-16 in a specialist SEMH setting. Role Responsibilities: Supporting teaching staff in delivering lessons and implementing individual learning plans. Assisting students with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties to engage with the curriculum. Helping to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using positive approaches. Providing one-to-one or small group support to develop social skills and emotional wellbeing. Supporting students to gain independence and effective coping strategies within the school setting. Assisting with classroom organisation and preparation of resources. Maintaining a calm, patient, and empathetic approach when working with students with SEMH needs. Candidate Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is preferred. Patience, resilience, and excellent communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. A genuine passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning.
