Strategy and planning are a vital part of our offering at UnitedUs, they form the foundation of every project we work on, as we strive to build lasting, trusted relationships with our clients. We’re looking for a freelance or contract Research Analyst to join us in fostering strategy and planning excellence so that together, we can reach the potential of our global clients, whilst enjoying the journey.
What you’ll be doing
No two days will ever look the same but here’s an idea of what your responsibilities will look like:
Research design, facilitation and analysis
* Articulate business needs into research hypotheses to best inform brand and/or campaign strategy and planning, based on client data.
* Craft simple to complex research plans that will achieve the desired research objectives, including methodology, representative samples, format, platform/tool and distribution.
* Design the research based on the plan, this could be desk research (market, industry, consumer, competitor, comparator), stakeholder interviews, surveys, focus groups, observational studies and/or workshops, including any aspect of the research’s activation, including client briefing, communications and/or debriefing.
* Test and quality check research methodologies before launching them to participants.
* Develop target audience personas using a blend of qualitative and quantitative data that speaks to their challenges, pain points, wants and needs.
* Analyse and interpret the data collected to compile insightful research and data in the form of frameworks and/or reports to inform brand and campaign strategies.
* Use storytelling and data visualisation techniques to socialise the key insights and recommendations with clients in a clear, compelling and concise way.
* Identify opportunities for further research as a way to dive deeper into specific insights that will achieve the client’s business objectives.
* Ensure all research meets its brief and is developed on time and budget.
* Develop positive, trusted relationships with our clients that enable us to understand the intricate nuances of their business and its organisational culture.
* Take a proactive role in developing existing client relationships, and identifying growth opportunities for them along the way.
* Using your knowledge and expertise, help respond to ad-hoc requests from clients who have identified a need for support outside of brand strategy development (e.g. reporting guidance and/or requests).
* Develop positive relationships with our wider team that enable you and them to collaborate in an effective, respectful and friendly manner.
* Inform, develop and deliver our research, strategy and planning function; both for ourselves and our clients, so that we consistently improve.
* Contribute to the creative, cultural and operational development of the strategy and planning, as well as the wider team.
* Support the Strategy Director in developing internal materials, content, frameworks and training to build the agency’s top-level understanding of research, strategy and planning.
* Share best practices, knowledge and best-in-class examples external to the agency that inspire you, or that you think we can learn from.
What makes a great research analyst
Someone who has:
* An analytical, highly numerate mindset with a genuine passion and interest in research.
* High attention to detail, with a passion for logical, accurate and comprehensive research projects that deliver the best results for the client.
* Ask the right questions about everything, fulfilling their insatiable curiosity to learn everything there is to know about a given business, person, culture, trend etc.
* Can translate complex data sets into clear and actionable narratives and revel in communicating both opportunities and challenges to stakeholders.
* An insatiable desire to connect the dots in any given project to tell a complete narrative that aligns with the client’s objectives and produces their desired results.
* Take full ownership and responsibility of their work across multiple projects, effectively managing their workload using clear organisational skills.
* Practise emotional intelligence to build and nurture relationships with our global clients and the wider team, including active listening, perspective-taking and pragmatic feedback.
* Bring their interests and passions into their work and the wider team, taking pride in who they are and the value they bring.
* Above all, leverage curiosity, empathy and reason to help organisations connect the dots in new ways.
Role requirements:
At least 3 years of experience demonstrating the following;
* Working as a research analyst, or an equivalent role (e.g. specialist), with an understanding of how brand and business impact are intrinsically linked.
* Designing, facilitating, analysing and presenting research across a diverse range of methodologies (primarily stakeholder interviews, surveys and workshops).
* Delivering insightful and well-thought-through B2B and B2C research reports and/or audience personas that are clear, compelling and concise.
* Managing client relationships at all levels, from juniors through to senior management.
* Collaborating with other individuals or team members to get to the right solution.
* A high standard of numeracy skills.
* A high standard of English language, written and spoken.
* A high standard of IT skills and Mac proficiency.
* The existing right to work in the United Kingdom as we are currently unable to sponsor work visas at this stage.
Brand agency experience is beneficial.
