Senior Staff Nurse (Radiology)
Cromwell Hospital, Kensington, London SW5 0TU
Full time - 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £46,195 - £54,700 per annum depending on experience

The radiology department at Cromwell hospital has opened its doors in December 2025 with a fully refreshed suite of facilities in the new diagnostic wing of the hospital: Lexham gardens.
Lexham gardens comprises three floors of ultrasound facilities, x-ray, a fluoroscopy suite, DEXA and women’s health unit. The radiology department is well known for being a dynamic service accommodating requests to provide a rapid access and flexible imaging service for our stakeholders.
What you’ll do:
1. Support and deputise for the Radiology Nurse Manager in the day-to-day running of the department.
2. Supervise, mentor, and appraise junior nursing staff and support workers.
3. Lead shifts, ensuring safe staffing levels, appropriate skill mix, and effective delegation
4. Promote a positive team culture and manage performance issues where required.
5. Ensure compliance with local policies, radiation safety, infection control, and national standards.
6. Lead on audits, quality improvement initiatives, and service development within radiology nursing.
7. Investigate incidents/complaints and implement learning to improve patient safety.
8. Coordinate patient flow across imaging modalities (CT, MRI, interventional radiology)
9. Work closely with radiologists, radiographers, and multidisciplinary teams to optimise service efficiency.
10. Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care within the ultrasound clinic.
11. Assist radiologists during ultrasound /Xray/Ct guided procedures, e.g. biopsies, FNA, drain insertions and Picc line insertion.
12. Assisting radiologist during ultrasound clinics (general, gynae, head & neck, breast, Msk, etc)
13. Perform patient observations pre and post procedure as required
14. Recognise and escalate clinical deterioration promptly
15. Ensure completion of WHO safety checklist where applicable
16. Maintain infection prevention and control standards.
What you’ll bring:
17. An active Adult General Nurse NMC pin.
18. Experience working in Radiology or Endoscopy department.
19. Significant experience at a senior staff nurse level.
20. Experience of supporting junior team members.
