CHAW PCN have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to work within our PCN which covers practices across Chelford, Handforth, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow (CHAW) Primary Care Network covering in excess of 51,000 patients. The role will be based at Wilmslow Health Centre.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking pharmacy technician to join our PCN. The successful pharmacy technician candidate will play an important role in complementing our clinical pharmacists and other members of the PCN multi-disciplinary team. This is an evolving job role with huge scope for development as we expand our PCN team further over the years.
Main duties of the job
We expect the successful candidate to contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive primary care medicines management system acting on current best practice / service change requests from our clinical commissioning group. The Pharmacy Technician will be required to undertake activities predominantly at a practice level, but will need to be flexible to work to the wider demands of the network. For example, the role will involve liaising with community pharmacy teams to highlight and manage problems identified by community pharmacy, such as medicines waste. Appointments will be either face to face or via the telephone.

Job responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Technician you will work as part of a pharmacy team and help implement our integrated model of prescribing support. The successful candidate will share our values and have the energy, skills and enthusiasm to contribute to shaping how we support our patients.
The main duties include the safe processing of medication requests, issuing prescriptions following specific checks (which may include reviewing blood results, checking patients INR, checking any QOF coding is accurate and up to date) and dealing with patient requests.
Prescription requests are received by patient access or written requests and the volume of workload is addressed within 48 hours. We encourage Electronic Prescribing with patients. You can expect to receive hospital discharges, hospital letters and medication recommendations for review and action. You will inform patients when blood tests/ BP checks/ medication reviews are due and keep their electronic notes up to date accordingly.
Our Pharmacy Technicians currently also have telephone consultations and face to face consultations for patients with medication queries, and support the prescribing duty doctor with requests. You will liaise regularly with clinicians in secondary care, either initiated by yourself, GP or patient. You will initiate practice policies to ensure safe prescribing and will have a very close link with the GPs, with a dedicated time slot each day to discuss queries and assist with decisions over patient care. You will be a valued member of the clinical team.

* About The Candidate It is a requirement of the role to be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician. We are seeking a pharmacy technician preferably with previous experience of working in primary care. An understanding of primary care operations and use of EMIS web. The salary will be based on experienced and we are looking for somebody to work 20 25 hours (ideally 4 days per week or equally happy for somebody to work school hours 5 days per week.
