Systems Engineer
Location: Whiteley/Hybrid – occasional travel to site required.
Clearance: Current SC clearance or ability to gain SC clearance.
We are looking for a Systems Engineer to support the development of an ATM system. The role will involve working in a rapidly changing environment, delivering high‑quality solutions as part of an agile team.
Responsibilities include:
* Performing all aspects of systems engineering throughout the development life cycle to meet sprint milestones.
* Working with customers and suppliers to execute Systems Engineering activities across the full lifecycle, with a focus on Model‑Based Systems Engineering.
* Analyzing requirements, developing system behavioural diagrams, modelling interfaces, and creating models to encapsulate functional requirements.
* Conducting detailed systems engineering trade studies to assess options, feasibility and define optimal solutions.
* Creating and maintaining requirements and user scenario development in both text‑based and model‑based approaches.
* Designing, delivering, and maintaining systems in a virtualised, Service‑Oriented Architecture environment.
* Engaging with stakeholders, suppliers and cross‑functional teams to manage integration and system performance.
Qualifications and required skills:
* Strong experience with architecture modelling tools (e.g., Sparx Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw Cameo).
* Experience with Architecture Modelling Frameworks and Languages (e.g., TOGAF, MODAF, NAF, SysML, Archimate).
* Success in large‑scale, mission‑critical integration programmes.
* Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and suppliers across organisational boundaries.
* Experience developing behavioural diagrams, modelling interfaces and developing models.
* Demonstrable successes within systems engineering.
* Excellent customer‑facing skills for ingesting large volumes of requirements and identifying customer needs.
* Knowledge of adjacent disciplines such as programme management, customer relationship management, supplier management and service management.
* Experience conducting detailed systems engineering trade solutions and defining optimal solutions.
* Strong knowledge of requirements and user scenario development in both text‑based and model‑based approaches.
* Understanding of designing and delivering systems in a virtualised environment.
* Experience with Service‑Oriented Architectures.
Desired skills:
* ITIL, including Service Management roles & processes.
* Knowledge of Air Traffic Management or other safety‑related systems.
* Experience with service management, assurance and regulation requirements across functional boundaries.
* Willingness to propose innovative or unconventional approaches.
* Strong communication skills: dialogue, written work and formal presentation.
